The Mazda3 comes as either a sedan or a four-door hatchback. The sedan comes in five trim levels: i SV, iSport, iTouring, s Sport, and s Grand Touring, while the hatchback comes just in the s trim. The base 3i model includes a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 148 horsepower and 135 pound-feet of torque. The Mazda 3i trims come standard with a five-speed manual trim, and all but the 3i SV include the option of a five-speed automatic. The Mazda3s has a 2.5-liter inline-4 engine that produces a more powerful 167 HP and 168 lb-ft of torque.
Other features include a surprisingly roomy interior for the small size of the car, tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, and rear seats which fold back 60/40 to almost double the cargo space.
